00:31 Storybook Parade
Today we celebrated the end of our first Reading Workshop unit! After weeks of reading storybooks, all of our hard work culminated with a parade around the school. We each chose our favorite storybook, practiced all of the things we have been learning, made posters and marched around the school, proudly displaying our books. Our parade ended in Mrs. Robertson's room, where a few students showed off their very best reading for the 1st graders and we were paraded out with a tunnel. We celebrated, paraded and proclaimed to the world: WE ARE STORYBOOK READERS!

00:12 Math Workshop: Gallery Walk
This week, the students engaged in a math workshop. The students loved working with a buddy to answer a "juicy" word problem. They answered the problem in multiple ways and spent time explaining their answer in detail on a poster. On Thursday, the students took a 'gallery walk' to view these posters while making notes and wonderings. Enjoy a short video of students participating in this gallery walk!

00:13 Writing Workshop
In writing workshop, we are working on our first “small moment" personal narrative. Students have been planning and drafting their pieces in class. Students were asked to zoom in on a small moment to write about. For example, instead of writing about their whole trip to Florida, they could write about the time they built a sandcastle on the beach in Florida. Later this week, students will be revising their small moments pieces.
