Reader's Workshop
Each day in second grade, students take part in a Reader's Workshop. During this time, students focus on fluency and comprehending the texts in their book boxes. Students are given an opportunity each week to self-select their "just right" books. Please enjoy the video that highlights Reader's Workshop in our classroom.

Fill the Triangle
On Tuesday we discussed the 2 dimensional shape, triangle. We discussed the prefix "tri" and remembered to use our "grown-up" words such as vertices, edges, and points when describing the triangle. Afterwards, students took a paper triangle and tried to figure out how to fill it in completely using our pattern block shapes. I placed 1 iPad on each table for students to take pictures of their solutions to this problem. Check out the video of our learning (notice how quiet the room was while they were working...talk about engaged in your work)! FYI--I took the videos, students took all the still images.

Garden Adventures
Yesterday before the rain, we got the chance to meet with the Master Gardener and learn about ways to keep the garden happy. We picked lettuce from our lettuce plant and also found where the worms were eating our broccoli. We also got to throw seed balls into the wildflower garden!
