¡Bienvenidos!

¡Hola! My name is Ana Maria Zelaya and I will be your child’s Spanish teacher. I was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. For my elementary, middle, and high school education, I attended the American School of Tegucicalpa (AST Eagles), where I was first introduced to and fell in love with bilingual education! I moved to the United States after I graduated from high school to attend college and have lived here ever since. I went to Texas A & M University in College Station, TX and majored in Manufacturing Engineering with a minor in Safety Engineering. I worked 2 years in this field but found out I did not like it. That is why I decided to become a teacher. I love kids and enjoy working with them! I joined the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) Alternative Certification Program where I obtained my teaching certification in 2006. I have a masters degree in bilingual education from Grand Canyon University. My previous teaching experiences include second and third grade bilingual at Moseley Elementary and Lakewood Elementary in Dallas.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my two amazing sons.  We love going out to dine and to the movies as well as engaging in outdoor activities. My oldest son Mario is 16 years old and my youngest son Felipe is 13 years old.

I look forward to working with your child and to a fantastic school year at Armstrong Elementary!
