It's Inclusive Schools Week in Highland Park ISD. Throughout the week at Armstrong Elementary, we plan to celebrate how each of our unique differences make for a stronger learning environment.
The theme for this year's Inclusive Schools Week is "A Kaleidoscope of Friends." If you look into a kaleidoscope, you see an infinite array of patterns of brilliant light created by repeated reflection. Kaleidoscope comes from two Greek words: kalos, meaning "beautiful," and eidos, "shape." And indeed, education takes on a beautiful shape when all students belong and are valued as contributing members of the school community.
Ask your child what he or she learns every day from this experience and please keep an eye on the district's social media pages throughout the week (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) as we highlight how all of our students are encouraged to grow and learn.

Hi Parents!

Fundamentals and Structure are planning a field trip to the Highland Park Fire Station (located on Drexel Dr.) on Friday, September 21st. This is an early dismissal day. We will walk to the fire station (10 minute walk) and tour their facilities (firehouse, police station, and fire truck). We will leave the school at 9:00 am and return by 11:00 am. There will be a voluntary picnic when we return, if you would like your child to participate in this, please pack a lunch for them!

You are more than welcome to join us, just let us know so we have an accurate count.

Please return this permission form by Friday, September 14th.

Your child will need:

  • A hat
  • Water
  • Walking Shoes
  • Packed Lunch (for voluntary picnic)
*Most of you have already signed a permission slip, if your child does not have one signed yet, it will go home tomorrow.*
