Additional Giving Opportunities
Armstrong hosts several fun fundraisers throughout the year. These events are a great way for students and parents to get involved in giving back to our school through monetary and volunteer support. These include:
Armstrong Book Fair
The Armstrong library and PTA host a Scholastic Book Fair offering a variety of titles for all ages as well as resource books, games, and posters. All proceeds benefit the library.
Armstrong Reads Program
The Armstrong Reads program allows students to raise funds through their reading efforts.
The Armstrong Carnival is an afternoon for family fun featuring games, booths, concessions, and raffle baskets. Be ready for a great time!
Dad’s Club - All Year Long
Join Armstrong’s Dads Club and have fun helping with car pool, sno-cones, and a variety of other fun events throughout the school year.
Parent Teacher Association - All Year Long
Join the PTA to help support our events and programs throughout the year.
Community Rewards - All Year Long

EXECUTIVE PTA BOARD POSITIONS:
President-Elect: Assist 2017-2018 PTA President, attend monthly District PTA President luncheons, Chair of Armstrong Gift Committee, serve as PTA President 2018-2019.
Vice President Communications: Provide support & guide PTA positions that promote & communicate about Armstrong- Recording Secretary, Yearbook, Directory, Back to School Sign Up (BSSU), Bulletin Boards, Arts Display, Joys & Concerns.
Vice President Development: Provide support & guide PTA positions that coordinate our Fundraisers- Auction, Carnival, Armstrong Reads and Mad for Plaid.
Vice President Faculty: Provide support & guide PTA positions that focus on Teacher, Class & Grade Events-Class Coordinators, Teacher Workroom, TAG Representative, Room Parents and Outreach.
Vice President Special Events: Provide support & guide PTA positions that coordinate our Special Events-Bike Rodeo, Field Day, Eagle’s Nest, GrandFriends’ Day, Founder’s Day Picnic, Open House, Science Fair and Library.
Treasurer: Collect receipts, write checks, maintain accounting efforts and work with event treasurers.
Treasurer Elect: Make deposits, oversee Eagle Store operations and act as Treasurer in 2018-2019.
Recording Secretary: Take attendance and minutes at all PTA and Executive Committee meetings and distribute copies of minutes at next meeting.

Eagle Store Chairman-Elect (2): Work with Eagle Store Chairs next year and run the store 2018-2019.
Family Giving Chairman (2): Work with VP Development & President on Family Giving Campaign-Annual “all in” fundraising initiative during Back to School Sign Up online in late summer and 1st weeks of school.
HPISD Parent Education Committee Representative: Work with administration and counselor to promote campus & district workshops. Serve as Red Ribbon Coordinator by organizing and leading red ribbon week.
Mad for Plaid Representative: Work with Mad for Plaid Committee to communicate information to PTA members & Armstrong parents about the Education Foundation’s fundraiser.

Arts Display (2): Organize and lead committee to work with Art teacher to display students' artwork around the school.
Back to School Sign Up Chairman Elect: Assist the BSSU Chair for 2017-2018. BSSU Chair in 2018-2019.
Bike Rodeo Chairman (2): Plan and organize the Bike Rodeo and Safety Week in October.
Bulletin Board Chairman (2): Design, install and maintain school’s two large bulletin boards at
the main entrance.
Cafeteria Cashier/Server Chairman (2): Schedule cafeteria volunteers to serve as cashiers and servers. Help coordinate volunteers for the first 10 days of school to help with Kindergarten & 1st grade lunch.
Cafeteria Treasurer: Work with cafeteria volunteer chairs and cafeteria manager; manage cafeteria budget.
Cafeteria Treasurer-Elect: Assist Cafeteria Treasurer in 2017-2018, serve as Cafeteria Treasurer in 2018-2019.
Class Coordinator Chairman: Assist & guide throughout the year to help promote Yahoo groups, grade level parent events & other grade level parties.
Class Coordinator (10): 1 boy parent and 1 girl parent from each grade level to coordinate parent social events, grade level parties and organize Yahoo groups.
Crossing Guard Appreciation: Coordinate appreciation and gifts to the six crossing guards.
Directory Chairman (2): Responsible for the overall publication of the school directory, the Eaglette (computer skills necessary).
Directory Sponsorship Sales Chairman: Responsible for getting sponsors/ads for the school directory.
Fall Curriculum Night Chairman (2): Organize and implement the Fall Curriculum Night.
Field Day Chairman (2): Organize and run Field Day on the last day of school.
Find Your Place in the Eagle’s Nest Chairman (2): Organize Meet the Teacher Night on the Thursday before school begins.
Founder’s Day Coordinator (2): Coordinate the annual Founder’s Day family picnic in the fall.
Garden Chairman: Manage the Armstrong Garden. Work with teachers and master gardeners to coordinate plantings with classes. Keep planters and beds at school entrances filled.
Garden Volunteer Coordinator: Create a schedule and coordinate volunteers to work shifts during garden class time.
GrandFriends’ Day Coordinator (2): Coordinate the annual GrandFriends’ Day in the spring.
Invention Convention Chairman (2): Coordinate Invention Convention in the fall.
Joys and Concerns Chairman: Responsible for reaching out to parents or faculty who are going through a major life event, including writing notes or sending a gift.
Library-Media Center Chairman (2): Organize library volunteers, book fair & promote and maintain box top collection.
Linda Somerville Scholarship Representative: Acknowledge donations, interface with Somerville family to collect teacher requests for scholarships.
Lost and Found Coordinator: Hangs lost and found items for retrieval. Coordinates donation pick up at holidays and end of school.
New Families Chairman (2): Host New Families Welcome Coffee the week after school starts, provide information on Armstrong to newcomers to the school during the summer and throughout the year.
Nutrition Month Chairman (2): Plan and coordinate Nutrition Week with the Cafeteria Manager in the spring.
One School One Book Chairman (2): Organize books to distribute to students, plan any special events or activities, work with Bulletin Boards Chair to display OSOB and coordinate with the Librarian.
Outreach Chairman (2): Organize school outreach program, coordinate outreach room mothers.
Publicity Chairman: Take pictures during school events, send items to newspapers, save press clippings.
Red Ribbon Week (PEC) Chairman Elect: Work with administration and counselor to promote campus and district workshops. Serve as Red Ribbon Coordinator by organizing and leading red ribbon week with the PEC Representative.
Rewards Program Chairman: Coordinate collection of Box Tops.
Room Parent Chairman (2): Assign room parents to classrooms; hold organizational meeting in early September with the chosen room parents.
Room Parent Treasurer: Keep track of budget for each class/room parents and collect expense reimbursement forms.
Safety Liaison: Plan safety program, recruit volunteers to assist in the afternoon with traffic control and safety.
School Supplies Chairman Elect: Assist School Supplies Chairman in stocking student and teacher supplies. Responsible for distributing supplies in the summer to teachers.
Science Fair Chairman (2): Coordinate science fair for 3rd and 4th graders at end of January/February.
Spring Open House Chairman (2): Plan and coordinate the Spring Open House.
TAG Representative (2): Two parents that currently have children in the TAG program. Attend PC-TAG meetings and report information to Armstrong parents.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheons/Gifts Chairman (4): Plan a monthly lunch or gift for all teachers and staff. Plan “Back to School” teacher luncheon the Friday before school starts.
Teacher Workroom Chairman: Organize volunteers to staff teacher workroom and maintain supplies.
Teacher Workroom Chairman-Elect: Assist Teacher Workroom Chairman in 2017-18. Serve as Teacher Workroom Chairman in 2018-2019.
Volunteer Website Elect: Responsible for inputting data and keeping the volunteer website updated regarding volunteer opportunities for the teachers/classes, workroom, special events and the cafeteria.
Website Chairman: Responsible for updating the Armstrong website accordingly.
Yearbook Chairman (2): Responsible for publication and marketing of student yearbook.
