Enter to Learn. Go Forth to Serve.

Welcome To Armstrong Elementary

Since opening its doors in 1914 as HPISD’s first school, Armstrong Elementary has been rooted in a tradition of excellence, community, and student success. What began as a four-room schoolhouse serving 95 students has grown into one of Texas’ most recognized elementary campuses while continuing to honor the strong community spirit that shaped its foundation.

Now, more than 100 years later, Armstrong Elementary continues to serve Pre-K through fourth grade students in a nurturing and student-centered environment focused on academic growth, creativity, leadership, and lifelong learning. Under the leadership of Principal Betsy Cummins, Armstrong Eagles continue a proud tradition of excellence while preparing students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Our Mission

Armstrong Elementary School seeks to provide a positive and nurturing environment that enables children to grow, experience daily success, and develop a sense of community responsibility and lifelong learning. The school encourages students to realize their potential emotionally, socially, physically, morally, and academically.

Our Vision

We believe children’s passions are fostered through social, emotional, and intellectual experiences; children deserve a safe, nurturing, and child-centered environment; and engaging children through choice in collaborative and independent work makes them feel successful. Therefore, our vision is for parents, teachers, and students to create a learning community where all children reach their individual potential.
