As this year’s Dad’s Club President, I want to say thank you for taking the time to read a little about the Dad’s Club. This is my family’s 8th year at Armstrong. My wife, Crystal, and I currently have two boys at Armstrong: a 4th grader (Asher), and a 2nd grader (Primo). We also have a 12-year-old daughter (Annalise). The Dad’s Club Vice President, and next year’s President, is Chris Cason. Chris and his wife, Jodi, have a 4th grader (Cameron), a 5th grader (Kellen), and a 2017 kindergartener (Hayden).
The Dad’s Club has been a part of the Armstrong Experience since 1978. The Club strives to invest in the school by:
· Creating an avenue for dads to volunteer, engage in special projects, fundraise, serve, lead, invest, and get involved in the school;
· Help dads connect with their kids;
· Help dads connect with one another; and
· Create and foster a sense of community within the school.
In past years, the Dad’s Club has raised funds for the new playground, redeveloped the Armstrong fields and common areas, designed and built the outdoor lunch and common areas, invested in special classroom and technology projects, worked on grounds and outdoor projects, and more. Throughout the year, you’ll see the Dad’s Club in action serving sno cones on the first and last day of school, serving as Morning Greeters at the carpool line, reading in classrooms during Dr. Seuss week, working in the cafeteria – including on the designated Dad’s Club fourth and fifth Fridays of every month, and more.
The Dad’s Club also hosts events for its members including Happy Hours, the Cornhole Tournament, the Bowling Tournament, SMU Lead the Team, and other service and social events. We are dads that want to invest and build into our kids, the school, and the community. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about us.
